PRIVACY POLICY

CROSBY COUNTY LIBRARY

The Crosby County Library abides by the Texas Open Records Act (Vernon’s Annotated Civil Statutes, article 6252-17a), which states that, the records of patron transactions and the identity of registered library patrons is confidential material.   The Crosby County Library does not make available the records of patron transactions to any party except in compliance with the law.  The Crosby County Library does not make available lists of registered patrons except in compliance with the law.

Procedures for Handling Patron Confidentiality

A patron must identify himself at the library cardholder either in person or on the telephone before any information will be given concerning:

            Items checked out

            Items overdue

            Fees due information

            Hold information

When speaking to a family member and not to the patron, information about library materials should be restricted to information that does not reveal the content except in the case of minors.

Address, phone numbers, or any other personal information from a patron’s record may not be given out without direct consent of the Library Director.
